If we lowered the speed limits around all of the schools to the proposed survivable 20 mph maximum, we could then...

March 13 Bless Your Heart

BYH to the legislators who want to ban cellphone use while driving. To save money, just bolt the signs on the same posts as speed limits and other warnings.

BYH to Sheriff Dance for getting a $36,847 raise for a job she started in December. I have been working at Vidant Medical Center for 30 years and I got a $1.10 per hour raise, which is $2,112 per year. Don't get me wrong — I am thankful — but wow!

No BYH to the Democratic house leadership who continue to cave to a couple dozen far-left newbies. As a registered Democrat, I am appalled at the weakness of current leadership. Many Democrats are middle-of-the-road moderates and our voice is not being heard or represented by where the party is currently headed.

To the retired state employee wanting free Medicare. Just divest yourself of all wealth and live in abject poverty. Then you can get it. Such a deal!

BYH to the socialist revolution comment in Friday’s BYH. Please look at Cuba, Russia, Argentina and a lot of other socialist countries and see what’s going on with their people before you start spewing this rhetoric.

BYH to Rep. Kandie Smith. I totally agree with you about  minimum wages in N.C. It’s terrible that people are still working for $7.25 per hour. One of the sad things about this is a lot of workers are doing two and three jobs for that $7.25.

No BYH to the news media, especially, TV. We understand that a vaccination involves a sharp needle. Why, pray tell, must you keep zooming in on the injection? We don't need to see kids and even infants getting stuck with a needle. Hey, I'm a grandfather and it scares me, too!

No BYH to the public works leadership. Instead of putting money into more sidewalks that no one uses, how about repairing and repaving the cul-de-sac I live on in Tucker Estates? It's so deteriorated that it's down to the dirt. Isn't that why I pay taxes?

BYH, it just dawned on me why Mayberry was so peaceful and quiet. Nobody was married. Andy, Barney, Aunt Bee, Floyd, Goober, Gomer, Howard, Thelma Lou, Clara, the whole Darling family. The only one who was married was Otis, and he stayed drunk.

BYH to the reader who wondered why someone would give up a six-figure salary to run for Congress, I laughed out loud! Even freshman Congressmen become multimillionaires when the lobbyists get through with them!

BYH, I don’t the have a telemarketer problem because I don’t answer any number that’s not in my contacts. If it’s important, they’ll leave a message. And then I block any number that doesn’t leave a message. Problem solved.

Bless my heart. I received a recorded call that started out "Don't hang up.” I hung up. Wonder what will happen?
