An impaired driver was injured on Feb. 6 after his vehicle struck a ditch, according to a weekly review of crashes investigated in Pitt County by the State Highway Patrol.

Agustin Olmos Castillo, of Greenville, was traveling south in a 2004 Ford van on Black Jack-Simpson Road near Mobleys Bridge Road, about 1.10 miles south of Simpson. Castillo apparently overcorrected after running off the road to the right, and the van struck a ditch and rolled over on its side.

Castillo suffered evident injuries but was not transported by Pitt County EMS, according to the report.

The vehicle sustained an estimated $10,000 in damages.

The highway patrol report indicated that the patrol administered an alcohol test and Castillo’s blood alcohol content was 0.14, according to the report.
