Three men with handguns robbed someone of electronics in the area of Pirates Place on Tuesday night, according to an alert issued by East Carolina University.

The incident occurred about 9:47 p.m. in the area of the student apartment complex off Charles Boulevard.

The suspects were described as three black men, one wearing a blue jacket, another wearing a red jacket and the other wearing orange and purple shoes, the alert said.

The men left in an unknown direction of travel with various electronics stolen from the scene. The alert did not detail what was taken.

At the time of the 10:15 p.m. alert, officers still were searching the area for the suspects.

A follow-up email, sent shortly before 11 p.m., said officers had canvassed the area and believed there no longer was a threat to campus. Officers were continuing to patrol campus and surrounding areas.

ECU encourages students, staff and faculty to remain aware of their surroundings at all times and report any suspicious or criminal activity as soon as possible.
