Crime: Deputies arrest alleged drug dealer, seize cocaine

Deputies patrolling a mobile home park north of Greenville on Monday after citizen complaints of drug activity arrested a man on charges he was there to sell drugs. 

The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office reported Tuesday that it had sent deputies to patrol Smith’s Mobile Home Park off Briley Road in direct response to citizen complaints of drug activity.

While at the intersection of Baptist and Seymore streets, off Briley Road, deputies located a suspicious vehicle parked on the side of the road about 7:46 p.m., according to a news release issued Tuesday by the sheriff’s office. Deputies determined the driver was there for the purpose of selling drugs, the release said.

Irvin D’von Hines, 38, of 1277 Twisting Creek Road, was arrested, and deputies reportedly seized cocaine and marijuana valued at $550 from the vehicle.

Hines is charged with felony maintain a vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substances, misdemeanor possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana up to one-half ounce.

He was booked at the Pitt County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond.
