Crime: Man claims someone shot at him

Greenville police are investigating a report that someone may have shot at a man on Southwest Greenville Boulevard on Thursday afternoon.

A 44-year-old man was in a dispute with some people earlier in the day and about 3:30 p.m., as he was walking along Greenville Boulevard near Greenville Nissan, he said he thought one of the individuals fired a gun in his direction, according to Greenville police. Employees at the business said they did not hear any gunshots, but police are reviewing surveillance cameras in the area. The victim was not injured.

“The suspect is described as a heavy black male with short dreads wearing a white shirt with a hoodie,” said Kristin Hunter of the Greenville Police Department.

The case remains under investigation.

1600 block Treybrooke Circle, 6 p.m. Aug. 5-9 a.m. Aug. 6: vehicle break-in reported; nothing reported stolen; investigation ongoing.

100 block Cherry Court Drive, 7-11 a.m. Aug. 10: home break-in reported; nothing listed as stolen; glass table shattered, leg broken; damage estimated at $229; investigation ongoing.

500 block Paladin Drive, 2:30 p.m. Aug. 5-8:30 p.m. Aug. 9: larceny of N.C. license plate valued at $1; investigation ongoing.

4600 block East 10th Street, 4:45-5:15 p.m. Aug. 8: clothing, including boxer briefs, shirts, socks, travel mug, jeggings, jeans, wallets and other items, all valued at $248.36, stolen from Wal-Mart; all items recovered; three women arrested and charged; case closed.


500 block South Square Drive, Winterville, 10:20-10:40 p.m. Aug. 9: 54-year-old man and 34-year-old woman assaulted each other; extent of injuries not reported; victims refused to cooperate; case closed.


3800 block Sterling Pointe Drive, 4-4:30 p.m. Aug 10: glass pane inside of door and drywall damaged by stranger; damages estimated at $105; investigation ongoing.

3900 block Bostic Drive, 4:15-11:22 a.m. Aug. 10: silver Kia damaged; damage estimated at $700; investigation ongoing.

2800 block Rockport Drive, 11:20-12:30 a.m. Aug. 9: mailbox and newspaper box damaged; damage estimated at $100; case closed; leads exhausted.

1300 block Wyngate Drive, 7 p.m. Aug. 8-6:08 a.m. Aug. 9; Chevrolet Avalanche pickup damaged; damaged estimated at $400; investigation ongoing.
