The Greenville Police Department is investigating an incident in which a man was shot in the foot on Norcott Circle just after midnight Tuesday.

Police were notified after the victim went to the Vidant Emergency Department about 12:55 a.m., according to police spokeswoman Kristen Hunter.

The 21-year-old victim, who lives on Kennedy Circle, told police he was walking on Norcott Circle, which is in the same neighborhood as where he lives, when he heard shots and ran off, Hunter said. He then realized that he had been shot in the left foot. 

The injury was non life-threatening, Hunter said. Police went to the area where the incident was reported to have occurred but were unable to locate a crime scene.

500 block South Greene Street, 1:13-1:59 a.m. Sept. 10: Xbox 360 and Toshiba laptop valued at $400 stolen from vehicle; 42-year-old man arrested and charged with break or enter a motor vehicle, misdemeanor larceny and misdemeanor of stolen goods/property.

1500 block Fleming Street, 3:06-4:06 p.m. Sept. 7: two touchscreen cellphones valued at $200 stolen from home; case inactive.

100 block Paris Avenue, 3:19 p.m. Sept. 7: break-in at residence reported; no items listed as stolen; 41-year-old man arrested and charged with two charges of misdemeanor breaking or entering.

The sheriff released reports Tuesday with the following details and allegations:

Man charged with assaulting deputy

The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office charged a 42-year-old man with assault on a law enforcement officers Tuesday night.

The sheriff’s office charged Kenneth Louvern Honeycutt, 42, of 1929 Oakley Road, Stokes, with assault on a government employee, injury to personal property and resisting a public officers. The incident reportedly occurred at Honeycutt’s home about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. Honeycutt hit the deputy in the chest with his hand, according to the sheriff’s office. The deputy was not injured. A magistrate set Honeycutt’s bond at $5,000.

Break-ins, thefts

3900 block Charles Boulevard, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 14: Kobalt tool box and a variety of tools and supplies, including a Nikita 18-volt drill, three DeWalt 20-volt drills, four Wooster paint brushes, three 18-inch roll buckets, DeWalt bit pack, three extension cords and a four-foot ladder, all valued at $1,997, stolen from home by acquaintance; credit/debit cards and one negotiable document of unlisted value also stolen; investigation ongoing.

500 block Villa Grande Drive, near Winterville, 5 p.m. Sept. 8-8 a.m. Sept. 11: building materials valued at $1,000 stolen from construction site; investigation ongoing.

2700 block Old River Road, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Sept. 11: Kobalt power drill set, tool belt and signal meter, all valued at $1,600, stolen from vehicle; side window sustained $200 in damages; investigation ongoing.
