The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office is on the lookout for an armed man who fired a shot during an early-morning robbery at a Speedway gas station.

Deputies responded at 3:28 this morning to Speedway, 5068 N.C. 33 East, for the report of an armed robbery.

Two store clerks reported they were robbed by a black man who was wearing a black hoodie under a khaki-colored jacket, according to a news release issued today by the sheriff’s office. The man also had a mask covering his face.

Both clerks said the suspect entered the store with a handgun and demanded money, the release said. Before leaving with an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fired one shot, hitting a display next to the counter. No injuries were reported.

No customers were inside the store at the time of the robbery, the release said.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance video for any investigative value. Anyone with information is ask to call Pitt-Greenville CrimeStoppers at 252-758-7777.
