A North Greene Street convenience store has been targeted by thieves for the third time since Nov. 26.

The Greenville Police Department reported officers were called to the Speedway at 500 N. Greene St. about 12:35 a.m. Saturday. On arrival they found the front glass door had been smashed and entry was made.

An investigation is ongoing and further details were not available. The store is located just north of the Tar River across the Greene Street bridge.

It is the third recent break-in at the store, according to crime reports issued regularly by the department.

The last incident occurred between 12:45 a.m. and 1 a.m. on Dec. 31. The front door was smashed in that incident as well. It’s unclear if anything was stolen.

Cigarettes were stolen during a break-in about 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 26. The door was smashed during that incident as well.

The department on Saturday also reported that someone had broken into the AJA Mart at 4115 Old Tar Road. Officers were called to the store about 11 p.m. on Friday. On arrival the front glass door had been smashed and entry was made, the department reported.

Further information was not available and an investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the crimes is asked to call the department at 329-4300 or Pitt-Greenville CrimeStoppers at 758-7777.
