A woman was injured after she ran off the road, hit a driveway culvert and overturned, according to a weekly review of crashes investigated in Pitt County by the State Highway Patrol.

Evelyn Wells Baker, of Farmville, was travelling west on Stantonsburg Road near Farmville at 4:38 p.m. on Jan. 2 when she ran off the road to the right, struck the private driveway, overturned and her vehicle came to a rest on the roadway.

She was estimated to have been travelling at 50 mph at the time of impact, the report showed. The speed limit is 50 mph for that section of the road. 

Baker suffered apparent injuries in the crash and was transported by Farmville EMS to Vidant Medical Center. 

Her vehicle, a 2002 Mazda, incurred an estimated $10,000 in damages, according to the report showed. 

Highway patrolled issued a lane control citation to Baker. 

The wreck is among 23 the State Highway Patrol investigated recently in Pitt County, according to reports available between Jan. 1 and Monday. Wrecks involving deer and other animals are not included.
