One killed in Greenville wreck

A single-car wreck at Elm and East Sixth Street early Saturday killed one person and injured another, the Greenville Police Department reported.
The wreck occurred about 4:40 a.m., according to a news release from Lt. David Bowen. Initial observations by responding officers indicate the car ran off the road, struck some parked cars and overturned.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Julio Espinoza, 23, of Washington, N.C. Espinoza died on scene.
Wesley Maldonado, 28, of Pinetown, was the passenger. Maldonado was transported to Vidant Medical Center to be treated for serious injuries.
The preliminary cause of the crash is indicated as excessive speed. However, the Greenville Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit is continuing investigate the crash.
