Man charged with DWI after running off road, striking tree

A  39-year-old man was charged with driving while impaired after he ran off the road and struck a tree, according to a weekly review of Pitt County court records. 

Justin Eric Paulson, 39, of 3341 Ellsworth Drive, Greenville  ran off the road and struck a tree about 3:54 a.m. on March 7 near U.S. 258 Farmville near the Greene County Line. His 2005 BMW sustained $8,000 in damages and his vehicle traveled 65 feet upon impact. His blood alcohol level was .09

Six others also were charged with driving while impaired according to court records and law enforcement reports available between March 7 and March 14. In those cases, court documents indicate:

■ David Nelson Sutton, 49, of 7443 Pitt Street, was stopped at 2:41 p.m. on March 13 near N.C. 33 and Black Jack-Grimesland Road by the State Highway Patrol. He admitted to drinking and was involved in a car accident. He had an open container and his speech was slurred. His blood alcohol level was unavailable. 

■ Quinton Boswell, 27, of 655 Carrington Lane, Winterville, was stopped at 12:17 a.m. on March 14 near Carrington Lane and Winston Lane by the Winterville Police Department. He had red, glassy eyes, a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet. His blood alcohol level was 0.20 

■ Kenneth Lee Davis, 52, of 676 Third Street, Ayden, was stopped at 7:28 p.m. on March 9 near N.C. 102 and N.C. 11 by the Ayden Police Department. His blood alcohol level was .09

■ Donald Cecil Sutton, 23, of 1224 Ferndale Lane, Kinston, was stopped at 3:17 a.m. on March 11 near East Fourth Street and Cotanche Street by the Greenville Police Department.  He was involved in a hit-and-run.  His blood alcohol level was 0.13 

■ Kaliah Sha-Bazz Wilson, 29, of 490 Pam Drive, was stopped at 3:30 a.m. on March 8 near Fifth Street and Elm Street by the Greenville Police Department. He had red, glassy eyes and refused a breathalyzer.  

■ Colleen Smith Probst, 35, of 5417 Andrews Reach Loop, Wilmington, was stopped at 8:06 p.m. on March 13 near U.S. 264 Alternate by the State Highway Patrol.  A trooper observed her drive left of center three times, make wide right turns, and abruptly stop several times. She had a strong odor of alcohol on her breath, slurred speech and admitted to drinking. Her blood alcohol level was 0.24
