A Grimesland man was left with suspected serious injuries after he ran off the road to the right, struck a ditch and overturned on Ivy Road on June 11, according to a weekly review of crashes investigated in Pitt County by the State Highway Patrol.

Raymond Jasper Hoggard III, of Grimesland, was traveling south on Ivy Road near Greenville at 2:37 p.m. when the wreck occurred. Hoggard’s vehicle eventually came to rest on its wheels after hitting the ditch and overturning.

Hoggard was estimated to have been traveling at 60 mph at the time of impact. The speed limit is 55 for that section of the road.
