A man accused of trying to kill his girlfriend on Saturday night appeared in court at the Pitt County Detention Center on Monday morning.
According to an arrest warrant, Kevin Ray Dunn, 51, of 6730 Clarks Neck Road, Washington, punched his girlfriend in the face and held her head underwater in a mud puddle around 9:45 p.m. on Teresa Drive in the Clarks Neck area.
Dunn threatened the woman and said “I’m going to kill you,” the warrant said.
Once deputies arrived on scene, Dunn was seen walking down the road and was apprehended a short while later.
Williams had to be transported via EMS to Vidant Medical Center for her injuries. There is no word on her condition.
Dunn is housed at the Pitt County Detention Center under a $750,000 bond. He is charged with attempted first degree murder, assault on a female and communicating threats.
Dunn is being represented by the public defender’s office.
