Three women escaped injury early Sunday after someone fired at the car they were in on Albemarle Avenue, according to a Greenville Police Department report.

The incident occurred about 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of Alley Street, the report said. The women, all in their early 20s, reported the the 2013 Hyundai Elantra was hit by bullets while they were inside.

Police recovered a mangled projectile, the report said. An investigation is ongoing.
