Greenville Police arrested a 26-year-old Greenville man after witnesses said he fired shots at another person about 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officers were dispatched to Douglas Avenue where they found a victim who claimed to have been shot at.

“Shots were fired in the area but no one was injured,” Lt. Carlton Williams said.

Kareem Gibbs later was identified as the shooter and was arrested a short time later.

Gibbs made his first court appearance on Thursday morning at the Pitt County Detention Center. A judge kept Gibb's bond at $60,000 and gave him a court-appointed lawyer.

Gibbs is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and felony possession of cocaine. His next court date is on August 22.
