A  Greenville man was charged with driving while impaired after he ran off the road to the right and struck a utility pole, then a house near Old River Road in Greenville, according to a weekly review of Pitt County court records.

Dante Colva Martinez, 37, 374 River Road Estates Road, was traveling east on Old River Road in his 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck when he ran off the road to the right, struck a utility box, then struck a house before his vehicle came to rest.  The crash happened at 8:27 p.m. on Sept. 26.  Martinez was charged with driving while impaired and failure to maintain lane control. Martinez also was cited for driving without a current inspection. 

He had slurred speech, urinated on himself and had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. He also admitted to drinking and kept changing his story.  His blood alcohol level was 0.17. 

Martinez was among four people charged with driving while impaired according to court records and law enforcement reports available between Sept. 23 and Sept. 30. In the other cases, court documents indicate:

■ Jordan Tyler Cooke, 26, of 1799 Shady Grove Church Road, Snow Hill, was stopped at 8:35 a.m. on Sept. 24, near South Main Street and Marlboro Road by the Farmville Police Department. He had red, glassy eyes and an odor of alcohol on his breath. His blood alcohol level was 0.09. 

■ Jose Del Carmen Lopez Garcia,30, of 6266 Hwy 33 E., was stopped at 10:40 p.m. on Sept. 29, near N.C. 43 and Bells Fork Road by the State Highway Patrol. He was stopped in the traffic lane and failed to maintain lane control. He had red, glassy eyes, a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and was unsteady on his feet. He refused a breathalyzer test.

■ Albaro Romero,31, of 1849 Wintergreen Road, Dover, was stopped at 9:20 p.m. on Sept. 28, near N.C. 11 by the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office. He was driving 40 mph in a 60 mph zone and was weaving in the southbound left lane.  He had a brake light out on the rear passenger side. He was also cited for driving without a license.  He had red, glassy eyes, an odor of alcohol on his breath and admitted to drinking. His blood alcohol level was 0.18.
