A 27-year-old woman who was shot Tuesday has died the Greenville Police Department reported Thursday morning.
Shantelle Pope, 27, died this morning at Vidant Medical Center. Pope was shot shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday while standing on Tyson Street, according to a news release.
The incident is now a homicide investigation and detective are “following up on significant leads,” according to the news release.

A shooting near Tyson Street in west Greenville seriously injured a woman Tuesday night, according to a Greenville Police Department news release issued Wednesday morning.
Police responded shortly before 9 p.m. to the area of Tyson Street and Colonial Avenue for the report of a shooting, the release said. Upon arrival, officers discovered 27-year-old Shantelle Pope of Greenville had been shot. Pope was transported to Vidant Medical Center. Police said her injuries are considered serious.
A preliminary investigation has revealed Pope was standing on the road near 102 Tyson St. when she was struck by gunfire, the release said. Detectives believe she was not the intended target, the release said.
Detectives believe this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public, the release said. They are currently reviewing surveillance cameras in the area. The case remains under investigation.
