Members of the Greenville Regional Drug Task Force arrested and charged two Georgia men after they seized two pounds of heroin during a traffic stop, according to a news release issued Tuesday.

Ricardo Juarez-Mora, 41, of Ellenwood, Georgia, and Hector Lopez Garcia, 39, from Norcross, Georgia, both were charged with multiple counts of level III trafficking and conspiracy to traffic in heroin. They were booked into the Pitt County Detention Center and each received a $2 million dollar bond.

The men were stopped around 8:30 p.m. last week near Greenville Boulevard and Hooker Road, the release said. The release did not say what day the men were stopped or explain what prompted the stop.

Further investigation revealed that both were involved in trafficking heroin into Greenville, the release said. Heroin seized is valued at approximately $1 million dollars.

The Greenville Regional Drug Task Force is comprised of law enforcement officers from the Greenville Police Department, Winterville Police Department, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, The Drug Enforcement Administration and East Carolina University Police Department.

It focuses on narcotics traffickers within Pitt County and eastern North Carolina with a network of experienced criminal investigators and leveraging each partner agency’s expertise, equipment, manpower and finances.
