Deputies seized 8 pounds of marijuana, $1,920 cash and drug paraphernalia after an investigation into suspected  drug sales in the Winterville area, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office reported Tuesday.

Detectives as a result of the investigation on Thursday executed a search warrant at the home of Mutassum Mohammad Mustafa Awadallah, 23, 2560 Graham St., leading to the discovery of the drugs, cash and other items.

Awadallah was charged him with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana, maintain a vehicle/dwelling/place for the sale of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.  

He was booked in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $50,000 bond.  He is scheduled for court appearance on Jan. 22.  

The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, K-9 Unit and Street Crimes Unit along with officers from NC Probation/Parole assisted in the investigation and arrest.
