Task force seizes drugs, cash; two arrested

Task force officers made two arrests and seized heroin, cocaine and nearly $33,000 in cash this week after a two-month investigation led to a traffic stop, a news release said.
Officers with the Greenville Regional Drug Task Force made the stop at 8 p.m. Wednesday on Reedy Branch Road near Grandifloria Court in Winterville with the assistance of the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, the release said.
The stop concluded an investigation into heroin and cocaine trafficking. Officers seized of 2 kilograms of heroin, 1 kilogram of cocaine and $32,840. Throughout this investigation detectives also seized two firearms and three vehicles, the release said..
Alterick Wallisima Boyd, 43, 647 Davenport Farm Road, was charged with conspiracy to traffic in cocaine and conspiracy to traffic in heroin. He was jailed in the Pitt County Detention Center and received a $1.5 million secured bond.
Michael Aaron Cartwright, 36, 3202 Sherwood Drive, was charged with multiple counts of trafficking in cocaine and heroin and multiple counts to conspire in trafficking cocaine and heroin. He jailed under a $3 million secured bond.
Further charges are forthcoming, the release said.
The Greenville Regional Drug Task Force is comprised of officers from the Greenville Police Department, Winterville Police Department, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the federal Drug Enforcement Administration and East Carolina University Police Department.
