Dollar General robbed at gunpoint

The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery that took place on Jan. 5 at the Dollar General store located at 4112 N.C. 33 West.
The robbery took place shortly before 9 p.m. according to an incident report, and the thieves made off with $1,000.
Sheriff’s office spokesman Sgt. Lee Darnell said a handgun was displayed but no shots were fired.
A customer was in the store at the time of the robbery and two people are suspected of being involved.
“No arrests have been made and no further information will be released to protect the integrity of the investigation and individuals involved in the incident,” Darnell said.
