An employee working at a pawn shop north of Greenville was shot during a robbery Wednesday afternoon, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The incident was reported about 2:11 p.m. at Jolly's Pawn Shop, 108 Pactolus Highway, near the intersection of Greene Street.

The sheriff’s office released little information on Wednesday. It was unclear what proceeded the shooting and how serious the injury was, and no suspect description was provided at the scene.

The unidentified employee was transported to Vidant Medical Center by emergency medical personnel.
