Clerk shot during robbery at sweepstakes business

A clerk is recovering after sheriff’s deputies said he was shot during an armed robbery.
The incident took place shortly before 3:15 a.m. on Thursday at the JIA Sweepstakes located at 5347 N.C. 43. North in Greenville.
According to a news release issued Thursday night, deputies arrived on the scene where they discovered that an armed robbery had occurred, during which a clerk working at the business had been shot. The clerk was transported by EMS to Vidant Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was treated and released.
During the course of the investigation, deputies established probable cause to implicate Paul Eugene Addison, 24, of 200 Eastbrook Drive, Greenville as being involved in the case, the release said.
Addison has been arrested and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon. He is being held in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $100,000 bond.
Deputies are seeking two more individuals who are believed to have been involved in the crime.
No further information is being released by the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office, which said the investigation is ongoing.
