A Raleigh man, who is charged with driving while impaired and hit-and-run after he crashed into the driver’s side of another car, ran from the scene, according to a weekly review of Greenville Police Department crash reports and Pitt County court records. 

The crash took place Feb. 10 near 5th Street and Tenth Street at 12:56 a.m.  

Christopher John Lenger, 21, of 2800 Edwards St. was traveling Northwest on East Fifth Street in his 2016 Volkswagen passenger car when he failed to yield to a 2005 Ford passenger car driven by Brian Douglas Larrick of 1507 Pecan Ridge Drive, Greenville. 

According to the crash report, Larrick was attempting to make a left turn on East Fifth Street from East 10th Street when he was struck on the front driver’s side by Lenger’s vehicle.   

After the crash, Lenger exited his vehicle and ran from the scene. A witness identified as Ricardo Deleon followed Lenger and kept his eyes on him until police arrived. Lenger was later arrested and charged with hit and run and DWI.

Lenger’s vehicle was going 25 mph at the time of impact. Larrick’s vehicle was going 45 mph at the time. The speed limit for that stretch of road is 45 mph.

Lenger’s vehicle sustained $2,000 in damages and Larrick’s vehicle had $1,300 in damages.

No injuries were listed on the crash report.  

Lenger’s blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit at 0.25.

In other cases, court documents indicate:

■ Jerrell Lavon Carver, 42, of 780 Fairlane Drive, Grifton, was stopped at 8:15 p.m on Feb. 8 at the Burger King in Farmville by the Farmville Police Department.  He had slurred speech and his blood alcohol level was 0.17.  

■ Jonathan Christopher Castro, 33, of 2636 Cobbdail Road, Farmville, was stopped at 3 p.m. on Feb. 8 near Fire Tower Road and N.C. 11 by the Winterville Police Department. He was found asleep at the wheel in the middle of the intersection and had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. His blood alcohol level was 0.18.

■ Jonathan O’Bryon Jones, 27, of 4966 Old Tar Road, Winterville, was stopped at 2:04 a.m. on Feb. 10  near Reade Street and Fourth Street by the East Carolina University Police Department. He also rear-ended another vehicle. Jones told the officer he had consumed two beers. He had glassy eyes and alcohol in his possession. His blood alcohol level was 0.09.  

■ Matthew Benson Paramore, 34, of 1411 Canter Way, Ayden, was stopped at 12:35 a.m on Feb. 5 near Fire Tower Road by the Winterville Police Department. The officer noted Benson was straddling the white line and his vehicle reached speeds of 81 mph. His blood alcohol level was 0.15.  

■ Matthew Stuart Rollins, 18, of 2044 Lacy Holt Road, Graham, was stopped at 7 p.m. on Feb. 9 near N.C. 11 by the State Highway Patrol. He was found passed out behind the wheel while his vehicle was in the roadway. He told the trooper he had been drinking and was unaware of his location. He had red, glassy eyes and mood swings. His blood alcohol level was 0.14.
