Police are investigating a head-on crash that killed a man and injured another driver, according to a news release from the Greenville Police Department.

The wreck took place of Friday about 11:50 p.m., along Allen Road near Teakwood Drive Friday, the release stated.

Upon arrival, officers found two vehicles that appeared to have crashed head-on.

The driver of the first vehicle, a 2003 Ford, was dead on the scene, while the driver of the second vehicle, a 2015 Mazda, was taken to Vidant Medical Center.

The name of the deceased is not being released at this time pending notification of the next of kin. The driver of the second vehicle is Mistie Butler of Winterville.

The Greenville Police Department Traffic Safety Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
