WILSON — Wilson police are investigating a Friday night shooting that left a 22-year-old man injured.
Officers responded to 1100 block of Vance Street at10:09 p.m. Police learned that the victim, Kenshon D. Carr of Wilson, left the scene in a vehicle to go to the hospital, according to Sgt. Steve Stroud.
Emergency personnel were able to find Carr near Tarboro Street and Parkwood Boulevard, police said.
Carr sustained a gunshot wound to his chest and was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for treatment, Stroud said. He is in stable condition.
Carr told police he was shot by a woman, whom he knew, during a verbal and physical fight at home on Vance Street, officials said.
Stroud said responding officers were able to find and interview the “possible suspect.” Police say the shooting wasn’t random.
“Due to the nature of the incident, investigating officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the assault before any charge(s) are brought against the suspect,” Stroud said.
Police ask anyone with information to call the Wilson Police Department at 399-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 243-2255.
