A Greenville man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder following a double shooting Thursday morning at a home in Belvoir.
Tylif Staton, 26, and Devonta Washington, 26, both of Greenville, were injured in the shooting, the sheriff’s office reported.
Staton, 449 Northwest Acre Drive, was treated and released from the Vidant Medical Center emergency department and was arrested by detectives there, the sheriff’s office reported. He was jailed in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $1.5 million bond.
As of 5 p.m. Thursday, Washington was in surgery. He will not be charged, according to the sheriff’s office.
The shooting occurred about 9:45 a.m. at 416 Pacific Circle in Belvoir, the sheriff’s office reported. Deputies responded to a call about a person who had been shot during an altercation, said Sgt. Lee Darnell.
A second person who also had been shot was located in the Cypress Sands Mobile Home Park about three-tenths of a mile from the scene.
One of the men was taken to Vidant Medical Center by a personal vehicle and the other person went by ambulance, Lee said.
Further details about the shooting were not available Thursday.
