No charges will be filed in a crash that killed a woman walking along the highway, according to the State Highway Patrol.
Kedesha Nicole Carney, 31, was walking east in the roadway of U.S. 13/U.S. 264 Alternate early Friday, Highway Patrol Trooper A.B. Smith said.
Carney was in the area between Frog Level Road and Brompton Lane when she was struck by a Ford passenger car traveling east on the highway, Smith said.
The driver, also a woman, told Smith she didn’t see Carney until it was too late. Carney, whose back was to the vehicle, was wearing dark clothing and it was a dark stretch of highway, Smith said.
The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by Bell Arthur EMS, Smith said. She was not transported to the hospital.
