East Carolina’s women’s basketball team is winless through three American Athletic Conference games and a lot of that can be attributed to a 41.7-point scoring average, which ranks last in the AAC.

The Pirates will look to reverse that trend and shoot out of their slump tonight when they host Tulsa, which like ECU is 8-8 overall, but the Golden Hurricane is off to a 2-1 start in the American. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.

ECU averaged 68.5 points per game during nonconference action and was on a hot streak in December until its 0-3 start to conference play halted that momentum.

The Pirates’ last outing was likely the most troublesome of the season, when they lost 72-36 at Memphis on Saturday. ECU scored in single digits in each of the first two quarters and faced a 39-15 halftime deficit.

Tulsa, which has won four straight in the series against East Carolina, has only guard Shug Dickson as a double-digit scorer with an average output of 13.8 points per game thanks to a 39-of-43 mark from the free throw line.
