A 4-0 record last week led to East Carolina appearing in both of college baseball’s major polls Monday.

ECU (12-3) entered the Baseball America Top 25 for the first time this season, checking in at No. 21. In the D1baseball.com rankings, ECU moved up a spot from No. 19 to 18.

Also Monday, the Pirates announced their two midweek games this week will both start at 4 p.m. ECU hosts VCU (8-8) on Tuesday and Elon (8-8) on Wednesday.

East Carolina, which is 7-2 at home, just swept a weekend series at Charlotte.

The team’s starting pitching trio of Trey Benton, Chris Holba and Tyler Smith gave up three total runs in 21 innings against the 49ers. ECU’s team ERA of 2.47 ranks 17th in the country.

Thanks to a weekend sweep of Binghamton, VCU is on a four-game win streak and is 5-1 in its last six games.
