No. 7 seed East Carolina cruised into the quarterfinals of the American Athletic Conference men’s tennis championships with a 4-0 victory over No. 10 seed Connecticut in Dallas on Thursday.

ECU (22-4) swept the doubles point and then got three singles victories in straight sets from Vlad Anghel, Freddie McGeehan and Wisse Jonker to clinch the win. The Pirates will face second-seeded Tulane today at noon.

“Great work by our guys today. I thought we were a little tentative in the doubles, but once we got through that we played great in singles,” coach Shawn Heinchon said. “We’re looking forward to our next opportunity in the quarterfinals.”
