East Carolina ended its participation at the NCAA East Preliminary meet Saturday in Tampa, Fla., and is set to send two seniors to the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Galissia Cause (shot put) and Stefano Migliorati (800-meters) will move on to the championships scheduled for June 6-9 in Eugene, Ore.

“I was extremely pleased on how well the kids performed this weekend at the regional championship meet,” coach Curt Kraft said. “Anytime you have athletes advance to the finals, that’s a major accomplishment for the program. It’s very exciting to have student athletes represent your university at the highest level.”

Migliorati posted a school-record effort in the 800m Friday when he took 10th place with a time of 1 minute, 48.28 seconds to break his previous program-best mark by almost half of a second. Cause finished eighth in the shot put with a mark of 16.58 meters, which was good for her second-best showing of the season.
