East Carolina baseball’s game versus UNC Wilmington scheduled for Wednesday in Greenville was postponed to April 23 because of inclement weather.

No. 14 ECU (15-6) also does not have a midweek game next week, leaving the Pirates to focus on their American Athletic Conference series against Central Florida at home this weekend and then at South Florida next week. ECU will play its makeup against UNCW and travel to Old Dominion the next day.

Carson top-10

ECU women’s golfer Kathryn Carson shot an even-par 216, claiming a share of 10th place at the Briar’s Creek Invitational on Tuesday in Charleston, S.C. It was the sophomore’s fourth career top-10 finish and her second this spring.

The Pirates (55-54), who are now ranked No. 45 by Golfstat, took 10th place out of 17 teams, including finishing better than No. 27 Illinois. No. 23 Michigan State won the team title.

Track’s start

The ECU track and field pro­gram opened its out­door sea­son last week­end at the Char­lotte 49er Clas­sic, high­lighted by the women winning five events. Ha­keem Hor­ton was first in the long jump for the ECU men.

Court­ney Warner col­lected two in­di­vid­ual vic­to­ries, cap­tur­ing the 100- and 200-me­ter races with re­spec­tive times of 11.78 and 23.82 seconds. Nick Ci­ac­cia set a school record in the men’s 3,000m in 8:29.30 for fourth place.
