Agnos, Pirates win again on Friday

East Carolina baseball is 4-0 this season in the Friday starts by pitcher Jake Agnos, the latest coming at South Florida on Friday night when the Pirates beat USF 4-0.
Agnos (4-1) struck out 11 Bulls in six scoreless innings in his fourth straight Friday start. He allowed three hits with two walks and no hit batsmen before handing the ball to Sam Lanier, who also continued his recent surge with two scoreless innings and Ryder Giles delivered a clean bottom of the ninth.
Jake Washer powered the offense for the No. 13 Pirates (19-6, 4-0 American Athletic Conference) with a three-run home run off USF ace Collin Sullivan in the second inning. Sullivan (2-1) struck out five, walked five and gave up four runs in six frames for the Bulls (12-12, 1-3), who fell to 1-5 in their last six games and had slugger Joe Genord finish 1-for-4.
Washer (1-for-2) walked twice in addition to his homer. Alec Burleson was 2-for-4 with an RBI single to help ECU extend its winning streak to seven games. Bryant Packard led off and finished 0-for-4 with a walk and run scored.
