East Carolina moved up two places to eighth on Day 2 of the American Athletic Conference men’s golf championships at Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Fla.

Led by junior Blake Taylor and his even-par 71 thanks to a birdie putt on No. 18 to move into the top-10 as an individual, the Pirates improved their score by six strokes. They head into Tuesday’s final round at 24-over. Memphis is even and in first place, six strokes ahead of Round 1 leader SMU.

All-Conference women

ECU sophomore Kathryn Carson and junior Dorthea Forbrigd were named to the All-American Athletic Conference team.

The Pirates now have had at least one representative on the yearly team since joining the American in the fall of 2014.

Forbrigd took home her second straight all-conference honor after posting a team-best 72.37 scoring average, which ranks as the second-best single-season mark in program history Carson, the 2018 AAC freshman of the year, had a 74.23 seasonal stroke average.
