East Carolina was one of eight basketball teams selected to play in the third annual “The Islands of the Bahamas Showcase” this year in Nassau, capital of The Bahamas.

The Pirates will open the three-day tournament against Evansville on Nov. 22, then face either George Washington or Missouri-Kansas City on Nov. 23. ECU’s final opponent on the following day will come from the other side of the bracket, which consists of Liberty, Milwaukee, Morgan State and Rice.

ECU, which is in the process of a major offseason roster overhaul with junior college and other recruits set to replace at least five players from last season’s roster who are transferring, also announced Thursday the Pirates will host Liberty as part of The Bahamas showcase event. That game is scheduled for Nov. 16 in Minges Coliseum.

“From the sapphire blue waters that define The Bahamas to the world-class accommodations at Baha Mar, this event provides an unbelievable experience for the participating teams,” bdG Sports president Brooks Downing said in a release.
