Here are three Navy players to keep an eye on as East Carolina heads to Annapolis, Md., to face the Midshipmen in American Athletic Conference action:
Any Navy team runs as good as its quarterback. Perry, a senior former running back, is far from a perfect passer but he remains as one of the most explosive assets for the Midshipmen. He has three career games of rushing for at least 220 yards.
This is Smith’s first season as the lead fullback, and he shined during Week 1. His 96 yards and three touchdowns versus Holy Cross included one run of 49 yards.
Springer is best known for his tackling skills as a hybrid linebacker. At 6-foot-1 and 206 pounds, Springer’s official bio also says that he is one of Navy’s better athletes, and he is listed as the No. 1 punt returner on the depth chart. Running back CJ Williams also could return punts.
