Q: You play center. Have your ever scored a touchdown in a game?

A: I have actually, in high school. My team was on the 5-yard line and our running back got hit and the ball flies into the end zone. I was just right there and jumped on top of it and scored.

Q: What is you favorite flavor of ice cream?

A: French vanilla. I've always liked that since I was a little kid. It's simple, but that is what I like.

Q: What about a cheat meal?

A: I'm from California, so it definitely has to be In-N-Out Burger. It is hard to describe, but they do have this secret sauce that is kind of like thousand island dressing. It just does it for me, it is so good.

Q: Which of your teammates is the best dressed?

A: I have to say (defensive back) Tank Robinson or (offensive lineman) Noah Henderson. I almost forgot about Noah, but I have to throw him in there as a lineman.

Q: Do you prefer to run block or pass block?

A: Run block, for sure. I've always liked to run block because I like that contact.

DID YOU KNOW?

Pena is in his sixth year of college football after receiving a medical hardship from the NCAA to play this fall. He is a Salinas, Calif., native and played two seasons at Hartnell (Calif.) College in 2014 and '15 before transferring to ECU and redshirting his first year in Greenville. Knee injuries limited him the last two seasons, but he is back to full health and a starter on the Pirates' offensive line.

East Carolina basketball has a Miles James and a J.J. Miles this season.

Adding to the possible confusion between the two on a revamped Pirate roster is they are both tall guards looking to make this ECU team better at 3-point shooting compared to last year.
