One of East Carolina football’s top recruiting targets for the 2019 class is D.H. Conley wide receiver C.J. Johnson, who on Saturday said on social media that ECU, North Carolina and Virginia Tech are his top three college choices.

The Pirates signed former Conley star quarterback Holton Ahlers in December and are hoping to also eventually bring in Johnson, a 6-foot-2 junior who also has offers from Duke and N.C. State. Ahlers and some Pirate football coaches were at the Conley-South Central basketball game Friday night.

Johnson caught 68 passes for 1,547 yards and 31 touchdowns (second all-time on the NCHSAA single-season list) as a junior.
