Conley, Rose tennis record victories

D.H. Conley posted tennis wins on three consecutive days last week, and the Vikings lost just one of the 27 matches played.
The Vikings started the run with consecutive victories over against South Central, 8-1 last Tuesday and 9-0 on Wednesday, and then they downed Eastern Wayne 9-0 on Thursday.
In that impressive span, Madison Cullipher, Brooke Sullivan, Mary Beth Cole and Meghan Jones were all a perfect 3-0 in singles play. The doubles tandems of Cole and Carey Woodward and Lexi Lenker and Jenna Lee also went undefeated.
J.H. Rose 6, South Central 3
Rose took all but one singles match in a match last Thursday as Ella Jones defeated Sam Eagarton 3-6, 6-2, 10-2; Jayme Goldman defeated Sam Woodley 6-1, 7-6 (6-3); Cecelia Richardson defeated Sarah Johnson 6-1,6-3; Mary Grace Smith beat Kim Hooks 6-1, 6-2 and Etka Shah topped Beatriz Duran-Magna 7-5, 6-4.
Pradnya Akula was the sole winner in singles play for the Falcons; she defeated Rose’s Ginger Evans 6-2, 6-4.
SC fought back in doubles play, winning two of three matchups. Akula and Woodley defeated Evans and Jones for the Falcons’ first doubles win, 9-7. At No. 2, Eagerton and Johnson defeated Goldman and Richardson, 8-6. Rose took the third matchup with Shah and Anna Vaughn defeating Hooks and Taryn Wall, 8-0.
Rose will travel to take on Southern Wayne today.
VOLLEYBALL
D.H. Conley 3, Currituck County 1
Conley defeated Currituck County 3-1, including game wins of 25-13, 18-25, 25-16 and 25-18 on Saturday.
Several players stepped up in the win, including Alexis Desoto with 12 kills. Macy Smith added eight kills and seven digs, while Mary Horton piled on 15 assists. Hannah Shafer also contributed, providing five kills and 10 blocks.
The Vikings (13-0, 5-0) will travel to face Wake Forest on Wednesday.
John Paul II 3, Neuse Christian 2
John Paul II used a rally to erase a two-game deficit against Neuse Christian and take a five-set victory, 12-25, 23-25, 25-20, 25-23 and 17-15.
Mary Grace Flowers had 36 kills for JPII, while Anna McMillan had 19 digs.
BOY’S SOCCER
John Paul II 2, Pitt County Pacers 0
A goal from Brandon Forrest snapped a tie game in the second half and propelled JPII to a positive result over the Pitt County Pacers.
Zach Mitchell added an insurance goal just after Forrest to wrap up the win. Goalie Dandre Evan recorded the shutout.
JV VOLLEYBALL
D.H. Conley 2, Currituck 0
Conley coasted to a sweep on the strength of 25-16 and 25-17 game victories on Saturday.
Olivia Dees and Ella Philpot had five kills apiece and Anna Sawyer added 11 assists to keep the Vikings unbeaten at 13-0.

VOLLEYBALL
Hope beats Greene
Hope Middle School's A team swept Greene County on Monday, 25-3 and 25-5, and was led by Mallie Blizzard’s 29 service points and Riley Trueblood’s six points.
Hope's B team also defeated Greene County, 25-8 and 25-11. Brianna Bowers had 10 service points and Maria Long added eight.
Both Hope teams are now 2-0 on the season and play again at home against E.B. Aycock on Wednesday.
