Grant Charles Jarman wrapped up an outstanding high school athletic career this season. After four years of football and baseball Jarman walks away with one final award, The Daily Reflector’s All-Area Batter of the Year.

“One thing that will stand out to me is the guys last baseball season,” Jarman said. “The guys like Hunter Christopher, Anthony Saieed, that directed the way for me to become the leader I am today. Those guys were the stepping stones to this season and the team I had on my shoulders.”

Jarman ended his final season with a .506 batting average, batting 43 hits and scoring 29 runs. He also had eight doubles and twelve stolen bases to go along with 28 RBIs, which was good for second best on the Rampants.

Jarman will continue to play during the summer as part of the Post 39 American Legion team, which features returning names such as Saieed and Christopher. Playing with his former teammates once again excites Jarman.

“It’s really fun,” he said. “Anthony was a shortstop and I played second base (in high school), now we got to do that again and it’s really fun. Having Hunter back is great as well.”

Jarman is a familiar last name to those in the Greenville area. With his graduation only one Jarman, Grant Charles younger brother Wade, now takes over representing the family at Rose.

“I’ve told him that the game is mental, so you don’t have to always have to keep it all in, even though bad things will happen,” Jarman said. “It wasn’t just me giving him advice, he also gave some to me. I look up to him as well, it’s not just him looking up to me.”
