D.H. Conley graduate Jahmois Barnhill announced his commitment to play basketball at Limestone College.
Barnhill surpassed 1,000 career points at Conley on Jan. 30.
“It seemed like the best fit for me and my family,” he said. “I love the coaching staff and the environment down there. I feel that I can excel in that atmosphere. I want to bring leadership at the point guard position and my scoring mentality as well."
An arm injury near the end of the regular season cut his senior season short and was a tough blow for Conley.
Of the many wins that already included standout performances by Barnhill, one came against rival J.H. Rose when he drained the winning free throws with 0.1 second left to secure a 59-58 victory on Jan. 11 at Rose. It was a turning point for the Vikings, who needed a string of wins to close the regular season and make the 3-A state playoffs.
“That game was crazy,” Barnhill said. “We needed that win. I’m glad we were able to get it done and it’s definitely a great memory for me."
Coach Kyle Perry and Division II Limestone, which is located in Gaffney, S.C., will be looking to up its 14-15 record from a season ago.
“I’m going to miss the family atmosphere,” Barnhill said about Conley. “My coaches, teammates, and teachers mean a lot to me and they’ve helped me in so many ways. Of course, I’ll definitely miss support from the Conley Crazies."
