Certified Angus beef, appetizers, and hand-crafted sandwiches and salads are just a few reasons why people love Angus Grill in Winterville. Now you can be even more excited because they have opened a new location in Greenville at 201 S. Jarvis St. Conveniently located within walking distance to the East Carolina University campus, Angus Grill’s new location offers you double the space, the same food and more brews to love.
The new location is spacious with a hip, urban feel, soaring ceilings with exposed beams and air ducts, a concrete-topped bar with dozens of seats and walls of shiny metal. The best part is there is plenty of fun to be had for the entire family, too. Enjoy watching your favorite sports team on one of the eight flat-screen televisions, rack up and play a game of pool on one of the three pool tables or play a game on one of their arcade games. With over 7,000 square feet of space, there is room for the whole family, a group of friends for drinks after dinner or the perfect place to eat and play on Saturday afternoons.
Angus Grill offers a diverse menu with over twenty different burgers to choose from. Prices range from $6.99-$9.99, so it is very affordable and a perfect option for students and customers who want an expensive taste for a wallet-preserving price. All burgers and sandwiches are served with a choice of beer-battered french fries, tater tots, sweet potato fries, potato salad or a side salad. Some crowd favorites include the smoked brisket cheese steak, brown sugar and egg burger and the fried green tomato burger, just to name a few. They add tangy flavor combinations and Southern tried and true burger toppings, pairing flavor upon flavor for fantastic burgers that will leave a lasting impression.
Owner and manager Jeff Quann has been heading up the grill for 2 1/2 years and looks forward to serving customers great food every time.
“Our focus is great customer service surrounded by 100-percent satisfying food. We have created a fun and inviting atmosphere the entire family can take advantage of,” Quann said. Along with Quann, master chef Tim Green is the one behind the scenes dreaming up and serving up unique and tasty flavor combinations and burger offerings. He uses Southern flavors like pimento cheese, green tomatoes, barbecue sauce and cole slaw.
Now let me introduce you to one burger that has the South written all over it: the pimento cheese and bacon burger. This one starts with an Angus burger topped with homemade pimento cheese, bacon slices, lettuce, tomato and your choice of a side. I selected the beer-battered fries with Bubba sauce as my side. Pimento cheese is a dreamy, creamy topping that will have you drooling before you have even taken your first bite. The pimento cheese is tangy mixed with red peppers, sharp cheddar cheese and light spices. It oozes its deliciousness outside the salt and pepper bun and once you take a bite, you will be transformed. The burger was tender and juicy and the crispy, smokey bacon mixed with the cool lettuce and tomato were on point. You will also love the beer-battered fries that have a crispy textured crust, the perfect dipper for the super-flavorful Bubba sauce that is tangy with a light kick. The single burger is $7.99, the double burger is $8.99 or you can triple that patty for only $9.99.
Next I got down and dirty with the brisket burger. Start with smoked brisket, barbecue sauce, cheddar cheese, homemade slaw and two fat onion rings atop an Angus patty cooked to order. I selected the sweet potato fries with a maple dipping sauce for my side. This burger was a mile-high picture-perfect burger creation with the combination of sweet, crispy onion rings and barbecue sauce paired with cool slaw, rich cheese and savory pulled pork. It was a definite two-hands-needed burger and is sure to make your face a mess, but it tastes so incredible, you will gladly bathe your face with the flavors the South would be proud of. The sweet potato fries were “sweet” and the cool sauce rounded out the entire dish. Just grab a few extra napkins, lose your table manners and dig in to this beauty. The single burger is $8.99, the double burger is $9.99, or you can triple that patty for only $10.99.
I ended my Angus Grill tour by tasting one of their signature salads, the Buffalo chicken salad. This bowl of happiness is made with mixed salad greens, sliced red onions, mushrooms, bacon, jalapenos, green peppers, blue cheese crumbles and shredded cheese, topped with grilled chicken and drizzled with a Buffalo sauce. Choose your favorite dressing from ranch, blue cheese, honey mustard, fat-free Italian, Thousand Island or balsamic vinaigrette. This is a filling salad that feeds your spicy side with the kicked-up Buffalo sauce, jalapenos and onions, then cools down with the lettuce and chicken. An explosion of perfectly paired flavors for only $8.49.
Don’t forget that the Angus Grill also has 20 craft beers on tap, including local favorites like Uptown beer, Billy beer and Pitt Street beer. They also have added new homemade seasonal desserts.
