Meyerhoeffer a great choice

This has been a very interesting election season so far with a strong list of candidates running for office. The results of this election couldn't be more important for the future of our city.

I have gotten to know Brian Meyerhoeffer over the past several years and am excited that he chose to run for City Council.  Brian's experience working in multiple cities in both the private and public sectors provide him with a strong resume for what he can bring to Greenville.

He could have stayed in any of those cities but he and his wife decided that they wanted to come back to Greenville to work, live and now to serve our city as one of its leaders. I am hoping that others will support Brian in his bid for the At-Large seat as I believe his experience and character are exactly what our city needs.

I was out of state when Sen. John McCain passed away and I just wanted to thank him for being the true American who served his country beyond the call of duty.

I was part of the maintenance crew from Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino, California, that prepared the C-141 cargo airplanes that…

During the summer, while seated in a local eatery waiting to order a bagel, I encountered a stranger who placed my order (gratis).  With my permission, we chatted briefly and shared a few commonalities (one of which was arthritis). As we seperated, I expressed appreciation and left feeling…

For someone to support this president after everything he has said and done must require a boatload of cognitive dissonance and is truly a Faustian bargain.

What if it was your sister whose (expletive deleted) he grabbed and bragged about it? What if Obama said that? If you wouldn't give him the…

Inspiration comes from the oddest places sometimes.

I was reading an IGN article about how Sony refuses to open its PlayStation consoles to cross-platform gameplay for the popular video game Fortnite due to Sony’s longstanding rivalry with Xbox owner Microsoft.

It got me wondering as to why…

Why does Trump show respect to Sen. John McCain only after he dies? We all remember what Trump said about McCain: I only like people who are not captured. McCain was a Navy pilot who was shot down and was a POW for over five years.

This coming from a coward like Trump who would not join the…

As a product of public education and the daughter of a public-school teacher, I wholeheartedly support the Red4Ed movement. Attending May 2018’s march in Raleigh did nothing but reinforce my beliefs in the need for more funding for education, including raising teacher salaries. The sheer…

Hurricanes and dangerous stormwater don’t wait around for elected officials to produce expensive studies for the shelf, kick crises down the road, and ponder political calculations. Greenville has a documented $350 million stormwater infrastructure challenge to avoid dangerous flooding. Dilly…

“Location, location, location” is not only the real estate agent’s mantra. It applies even more to meteorologists. And perhaps it applies to you if you read your gauge faithfully and record the totals.

Depending on where you live, this summer’s precipitation totals have…

According to the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers survey in 2017, the most pressing world issue for millennials is climate change. Ninety-one percent of those surveyed agreed with the statement that “science has proven that humans are responsible for climate change.”

Summer is over and conversations about using reusable straws and saving the sea turtles are dying down now that we’re all not in “beach-mode” anymore. The tag #strawlesssummer focuses on a single object and time frame, and I don’t believe that it creates a lasting impact.…
