The Pirate football season is finally over with and I'm here to publicly admit that I was wrong.

At the start of the season I predicted only two wins for the Pirates. They proved me wrong by winning three games. So should Coach Mo be given another season? I think not!

His record over two seasons is 6 and 18. Not exactly stellar performance. As this season wore on, attendance was adversely affected by poor play as well as the many losses. One could argue that season tickets had already been sold, so even if those fans didn't show, but ECU still got the money. That is true, but short-sighted.

Two years of bad football will have a negative effect season ticket sales next year. Jeff Compher has no choice but to fire Coach Mo. Too bad Jeff isn't smart enough to fire himself. He needs to go also.

Did you miss it? This past weekend, Grifton unfurled all the best that small town life in Southern Pitt County has to offer in its 48th Shad Festival. Maybe you saw scores of kids flocking to the carnival rides near the railroad tracks or murmured “ooooh!” as you enjoyed the gleam of…

Dear Friends, here are the main reasons I am voting for Paula Dance for Pitt County sheriff.

• Most qualified: Major Dance is the third highest ranking person in the Pitt County sheriff’s department. The only two people above her are the retiring sheriff and the chief deputy. Over her 28…

Since being licensed to practice law 50 years ago, I have met and dealt with dozens of lawyers. One of those lawyers is Lee Allen, whom I support, without reservation, in the race for district attorney in the May primary.

Lee served as an assistant district attorney for seven years and gained…

Please support Major Paula Dance for sheriff of Pitt County. Her experience in law enforcement is extensive, as the previously published summaries detail. I have worked with Major Dance on difficult cases when I was doing forensic pathology. I found her to be diligent and thourough. It is my belief…

The time is near for Pitt County voters to go to the polls for the District Attorney primary. I hope Republican and unaffiliated voters will join me in voting for Glenn Perry on May 8. I have had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Perry in action during my many years in law enforcement, and I have no doubt…

In the race for Pitt County District Attorney, there is one choice that stands above the rest: Glenn Perry.

I was a law enforcement officer with the Farmville Police Department for 28 years, working narcotics and criminal investigations over half of my career. I spent several years of my career as…

I have always found him to be a man who cares deeply for his country, county, and community. He demonstrates…

In a recent letter to the Daily Reflector, pharmacologist Ken Soderstrom cited the 2015 Friedman case to bolster his view that Justice Scalia would have extended Second Amendment protection to semiautomatic rifles.

In Friedman, the Supreme Court refused to review a federal appeals court decision…

As a county commissioner, I take the safety of our community very seriously. Having a tough, trusted, and fair district attorney is extremely important in keeping our citizens safe. I didn’t arrive at that conclusion from being a politician. That belief comes from the experience gathered as…
