Honoring the troops
Thursday, February 8, 2018
President Trump has stated he wishes to honor our troops by staging a big military parade in Washington D.C., perhaps on the Fourth of July.
Instead of a parade similar to ones in Russia and North Korea, I suggest he honor our troops by visiting our military personal in the field. Actually, it would be good for him to visit military hospitals. A reminder of the sacrifice our soldiers make and the horrible results of war to human bodies can give one pause on the value of armed conflict.
There are many hometown Fourth of July events around our beautiful country for all patriots to enjoy. The ceremonies in our nation’s capital are especially inspiring. I am sure our president would be thrilled at the grandeur and spirit of the celebration.
I suggest he partake of the many events available prior to spending millions for a personal show. The money spent on a military equipment parade can be better spent by giving our military personnel a pay raise.
God Bless America.
