Do you think the Capital Gazette whose publishers ranted and raved about their dedication to the public should have realized that alleged mass murderer Jarrod Ramos was mentally unstable to say the least?

They should have called the first available psychologist or psychiatrist to assist them, or at least a local physician with experience in handling psychotics such as a prison doctor like myself — a retired old-time family doctor in Appalachia for 55 years.

Harassing between the press and any individual that goes on for weeks, months or even a year is insanity by itself, in my opinion. And since when is a sheriff or a forensic pathologist like Michael Baden a substitute in a situation where freedom of the press is at stake?

First off, as related indirectly to this matter as well, I want to congratulate the editor and publishers of The Daily Reflector for their efforts to print both sides of the current political strife and thus take a big step in reducing the possibility of the mentally ill, children and the uneducated to take matters into their own hands.

Unfortunately, once again, the criminal justice system along with a whole host of defense attorneys will will spend all their time searching for motives and rich sources to sue while little is done to set real preventive measures such reducing bullying of the learning disabled in schools and promptly calling mental health professionals whenever these episodes occur.

The current governmental regime of Israel exercises entirely too much influence on American foreign policy. Yup. The oft-touted “current wave of antisemitism” in America is indicative of the fact that perspicacious folks in America recognize that the best interests of America do not…

On Nov. 16, 2018, following the signing of the Cyber Security Agency Act, President Trump was asked for his assessment of the ongoing trade war with China. The President responded: “We put on tariffs on $250 billion worth of goods … Our country has done very well, and China, as you…

Recent Daily Reflector editorials and comments in the Public Forum have raised my eyebrows and my concerns about the sustainability of the human race. How can we continue if we are our greatest enemy? Every person I know has, and is entitled to, a unique perspective and personal opinion. Our…

A recent submission in the Public Forum suggested that to follow Jesus, I must vote Republican.

For me it is a life-long struggle and my highest calling to be in the fold of the good shepherd. Nonetheless, I don’t believe that scripture suggests that I can take my stand beneath the cross of…

In 1986, internationally-renowned singer Janet Jackson made the inspirational song, “What Have You Done for Me Lately?” Elected officials should actualize the meaning of that song. Oftentimes, elected officials make shallow promises, kiss babies, and hypocritically “press the…

Consider the following Republican presidents: Richard M. Nixon, Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. Each a two-term, or twice-elected president; each a more disastrous presidency than its predecessor on the list (Nixon posing a threat to the Constitution via Watergate, Reagan posing a greater threat…

Orange County District Court Judge Beverly Scarlett recently compared Silent Sam to Hitler and, by extension, the human suffering of slaves to that of the Holocaust. Based upon her remarks, it is not clear how well Judge Scarlett knew Sam or Adolf Hitler.

Statistically speaking, Sam had not…

This letter is in response to the letter titled “Unjustly defaming Dixon again” by Willie Roberts that appeared in the Wednesday, Oct. 31 edition.

Roberts stated that “White women have historically been used, wittingly or unwittingly, to destroy black men’s lives. Their…

What’s with you, Vic Corey? One second you are crowing how Trump is the reason for you being richer, the next you are, as always, worshipping your idea of a “new Christian.”

First, the U.S. is not a business; it is a country. Trump’s planned bankruptcies, his finding ways…

Is it any wonder that the attendance is dropping in the NFL when you can only pay the head man, Roger Godell, $40 million a year and have as many as five commentators sitting around a table in their $500-plus suits as they blurt out that which you and I are looking at? Not to mention another two…
