McCain leaves stark contrast

Draft Dodger (“DD,” aka “Dastardly Don”) couldn’t hold a candle to Great American John McCain. I say that with the calm assurance, and without fear of reasonable contradiction, that the vast majority of my fellow Vietnam War vets agree with me: Any comparison of the two men leaves DD sucking hind teat.

One is an abject coward; whereas the other was valiant. One is a liar and a cheat; whereas the other was honest and fair. One has no apparent moral compass; whereas the other was virtuous. One cares only for himself; whereas the other devoted his life to the service of his country.

The contrast between the two men could not be more distinct. Maybe, hopefully, the American people will be awakened to action as they grieve the loss of John McCain. Maybe they will realize, without doubt, that America deserves better than to have Dastardly Don in the White House. Maybe, hopefully, they will take the necessary steps to influence Congress to do the right thing — to rid us of this perfidious schnook before he does any further damage to our country’s reputation worldwide.

I, for one, will welcome the day when American gets back to what John McCain called “regular order.”

In 1986, internationally-renowned singer Janet Jackson made the inspirational song, “What Have You Done for Me Lately?” Elected officials should actualize the meaning of that song. Oftentimes, elected officials make shallow promises, kiss babies, and hypocritically “press the…

Consider the following Republican presidents: Richard M. Nixon, Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. Each a two-term, or twice-elected president; each a more disastrous presidency than its predecessor on the list (Nixon posing a threat to the Constitution via Watergate, Reagan posing a greater threat…

Orange County District Court Judge Beverly Scarlett recently compared Silent Sam to Hitler and, by extension, the human suffering of slaves to that of the Holocaust. Based upon her remarks, it is not clear how well Judge Scarlett knew Sam or Adolf Hitler.

Statistically speaking, Sam had not…

This letter is in response to the letter titled “Unjustly defaming Dixon again” by Willie Roberts that appeared in the Wednesday, Oct. 31 edition.

Roberts stated that “White women have historically been used, wittingly or unwittingly, to destroy black men’s lives. Their…

What’s with you, Vic Corey? One second you are crowing how Trump is the reason for you being richer, the next you are, as always, worshipping your idea of a “new Christian.”

First, the U.S. is not a business; it is a country. Trump’s planned bankruptcies, his finding ways…

Is it any wonder that the attendance is dropping in the NFL when you can only pay the head man, Roger Godell, $40 million a year and have as many as five commentators sitting around a table in their $500-plus suits as they blurt out that which you and I are looking at? Not to mention another two…

With regard to the letter to the editor from David French concerning illegal immigration, I would respectfully ask Mr. French to do more research before citing any more misinformation. According to the Cato Institute and other sources, “The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration” (2017)…

With mid-terms behind us, the next Greenville election is for 2019 mayor and City Council. For six months following the 2017 election, I made no public statements and granted no interviews, preferring instead to observe actions of the new mayor and council.

Folk ask if I’ll run and perhaps…

Most of the mainstream media and the Democratic party leadership continually, and erroneously, declare President Trump as evil, racist and a hater of anything and everything the Democratic party stands for.

I suppose his economic policies that have benefited African Americans, Hispanics and others…

Henry Kissinger had much to say about our President Trump. “Donald Trump is a phenomenon that foreign countries haven’t seen before.” Yes, President Trump is much different from our previous president that was willing to bow to other world leaders.

Trump’s presence was…
