Restore order to immigration
Tuesday, December 4, 2018
America has 23,648 military personnel in the proximity of the demilitarized zone in Korea. Why?
North Korea has not crashed our southern border. North Koreans are not throwing rocks and bottles at our border agents, many who are hispanic. They are not overwhelming our schools, hospitals and social services. They are not causing a resurgence of catastrophic diseases that were once eradicated in America.
Every border state has a number of military bases. Instead of sending our troops 6,690 miles to another country, it would behoove us to protect our border.
There is a correct way for immigrants to become Americans. About 40 percent of Americans can trace their heritage to entering America at Ellis Island. Ellis Island had a number of inspections for the new immigrants. The American government wanted immigrants that could support themselves and adopt the American culture — those with visible health problems were not allowed to enter.
We need to return to the ideals of Ellis Island with an organized and systematic method of immigration.
