Fight hate with knowledge

It seems to me that many of the acts of terrorism (read mass shootings) through the world today are by white supremacists. These shootings are then dismissed by many people I know due to ignorance and fear of the victims religion or cultural background. After the most recent act, in New Zealand this past Friday, I heard comments about how they deserved it because of the actions of terrorists claiming to be Muslims.
Terrorists are not Muslims in the same way that mass shooters or pedophile priests are not Christians. Learn about the cultures and religions of others. You will be surprised at just how similar we are. The three Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) all received the same basic message by way of their prophets and savior.
Ignorance of a group leads to fear of the group, fear of a group leads to violence or at least the dismissal of violence against a group. The members of the Jewish and Muslim communities welcome visitors to synagogues and mosques with open arms and are happy to discuss their beliefs, which are very similar to Christian beliefs.
We need to stand together with our brothers and sisters against the violence and hatred bred by ignorance and fear of those different from us.
